Diamonds are a girls best friend & Eric N Smith’s the man to make them
Thursday, August 27th, 2015
Sunday, 16th August was a bright and sunny Scottish day with the best kind of light to catch the sparkle of Eric N Smith’s diamonds.
We teamed up with iconic Glasgow Southside jewellers, Eric N Smith, and all ten of our finalists made the trip to the bespoke jewellers for a stunning photoshoot. While they were there they got to learn more about the precious stones.
As well as getting to try on some beautiful pieces in front of photographer Alan Peebles’ lens (more of which at the final) the girls were able to pick Eric’s jewellers brain. Our young ladies walked away much more clued up on diamond clarity, cuts and settings!
Eric enjoyed sharing his knowledge and said, “It’s enjoyable to promote these things and help the Janis-Sue and the girls along the way in this exciting competition.”
Unsurprisingly the girls fell in love with some of the pieces – and were able to understand just how valuable the pieces were. Julie Govan was particularly stunned saying “I’m wearing a house on my finger.”
They were delighted to admire the beautiful, bespoke designs which perfectly personify Eric’s 30 years of experience in diamonds and design. He added it’s a shame that only one will win.
Exactly what the girls got up to you will be revealed at our Grand Finale – we’ll see you there!

Mums & finalists pampering night with NuSkin
Tuesday, August 18th, 2015
In the run up to our final, and following a very busy weekend, our hardworking finalists were in need of a little bit of down time. What better way to unwind than a pampering evening with the girls? Last Wednesday we did just that and, in true Miss Scotland style, we let the pros take over.
In the tranquil setting of a private room at 29 Glasgow, a team from our skincare sponsors NuSkin set up for a evening of pampering. They were joined by our ten finalists and their mums, as well as Nicola Minnagh, Janis Sue Smith, the occasional mum substitute and photographer Gemma Reynold who was there capturing the evening!
The ladies were all given face masks and the chance to unwind and enjoy a glass of wine and a good chat. They were pampered with new products and left with a very generous goodie bag full or products to use at home too. It was a great opportunity for everyone to talk to Angela Durrant and her team and get individual advice too.
The girls are lucky to sponsored by skincare specialists NuSkin and their products have been happily added to each contestant’s daily routine.
The Pure Cleansing Gel and Exfoliant Scrub has proven particularly popular with our finalists, looking to refresh their skin before important events and photo shoots. We know that the Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste AP24 has been well used too. Follow the girls on social media to find out what’s popular with each one.
DMC FitnessDMC Fitness host Fitness Challenge for Miss Scotland 2015 finalists
Wednesday, August 12th, 2015
August is a big month for the ten Miss Scotland finalists as they take on a series of challenges in the run up to the final on August 27th. Each challenge is designed to test the girls – and help us find the one who will represent Scotland at home, and abroad, for the next year.
Recently the girls faced their fitness challenge at Glasgow’s DMC Fitness – an elite private health and fitness personal training outfit where they were definitely put through their paces!
This challenge has been a focus since the announcement of our finalists in June but our girls are no strangers to keeping fit. Christina Chalk and Julie Govan are both dance fanatics, Tessa Forbes and Stephanie Dunn both run to raise money for cancer charities in June and Romy McCahill has a black belt in karate too!
In the run up to the challenge itself the girls were supported by the team at DMC Fitness. They offer training on a 1-2-1 basis and prior to the challenge each young lady had a private session with Davie McConnachie, Head Coach.
During this session Davie assessed the girls mobility and posture and took them through each exercise that would be used in the challenge. Each girl was then given a program to follow to prepare them for the challenge ahead – and sent home with their program in video format to help them with their own personal practise.
On the day our finalists were time tested on squats, push ups, burpees and a plank – no mean feat! Keeping them motivated throughout were the hardworking DMC team who gave support and encouragement. They also introduced a bit of fun – Owner and Head Coach Davie McConnachie set the finalists a tug of war challenge. It was great and as Davie commented “showed the girls grit, determination and competitive sides.”
Overall Davie was impressed by their performance. “We are very proud of the girls each one really gave it their all.”
We will be announcing the results at our final on August, 27th.
